  1. How-to articles. Most people visit the internet searching for information and majority want to  learn how to do various things. Write articles that help solve some of these issues for them and they’ll never forget what you did for them.
  2. Lists. Everybody loves lists, numbered lists. This is so because lists seemingly simplify information and makes it less cumbersome to read. Very few people enjoy reading chunks of text, especially when they’re pressed for time. A brief, clear and precise list will definitely draw people to your blog and they won’t hesitate to share.
  3. Videos. Who doesn’t like videos?Well, unless it’s a longer than life, boring  and horridly shot video clip, many people are likely watch and share. Study your audience and post interesting videos and you’ll have a loyal following, which could mean sales  and referrals for you. You can not only share videos on your Youtube channel but also embedded on blog articles.
  4.  Trending Topics. Find out what’s trending and discuss it on your blog. Pay attention to the  key words  of the moment and use them to direct traffic to your website. Controversy sells. Write debatable and interesting content, the type that’s bent to get people talking. You must fight to stay relevant as there’s no place for mediocrity in any market.
  5. Infographics. Interesting and shareable infographics are the way to go if you want more than impressive blog views. An infographic simplifies information and makes it easier to share. You therefore need to make your infographics good enough to go viral, nothing less.

CV Makeover: 4 Ways to Revamp Your CV

You cannot continue making the same mistakes while writing your CV , then expecting some miracle to get you onto that post. Time for a CV makeover!

Doing things the same way and expecting different results is the definition of madness. That statement applies especially in CV writing. You cannot continue making the same mistakes while writing your CV , then expecting some miracle to get you onto that post. Time for a CV makeover!

CV makeover begins with spotting the cracks on your document, identifying your weak points. Study your CV, preferably comparing all the versions you’ve sent to potential employers. If you are keen enough, you will be able to point out the ‘sick’ areas. Once you know what has been turning recruiters off, you’re good to go.

Think like an employer. What would you be looking for in an employee? Consider the post you’re applying for and find out what the right candidate needs to bag the job. Ask yourself if your CV meets those requirements and if it doesn’t, you know there’s a lot of work to do. Consider also the fact that competition for the post  is stiff and only the best gets picked. Your best must be good enough.

Capitalise on key areas of the CV. An effective CV makeover should be centered around the most important sections of the document. Mostly, this would be the professional skills and career summary/ experience. The recruiters’ decision to hire you or not is usually based on these key sections. The other sections of the CV only make so much difference.

Choose quality over quantity. You have heard this before. It’s not the longest CV that impresses an employer, rather it’s the most compelling  CV that sells. Two pages should be enough to convince them that you’re the right person for the post. Choose your words carefully and your structure more carefully. Make your CV pop out of the pile.

If you’re tired of the same results, try and do something different with your CV this time. When done right, a CV makeover will take you places you have only imagined. You only need to know what works and what doesn’t, then capitalise on what does. It’s that simple.
